There is a lot of good music in the greater Ann Arbor area, jazz and beyond. There are also a lot of good people around here. If you connect to music - esp. jazz, but also classical, etc. - and wish to share and learn, through live music and other meetups, and on-line discussions, hop on board. Two quotes by Duke Ellington guide this group: -- There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind. -- If it sounds good and feels good, then it IS good! We'll be learning about making music using a variety of software and hardware, discussing new technology, learning about sound engineering and collaborating on projects. The first few meetups will be very informal as we figure out who's got what kin …

I have played in orchestra, chamber ensembles, and string quartets and love the experience of creating such beauty with fellow players. I would love to re-create some of this magic by having an informal group of local string musicians who love to make music together. We can improvise, play simple-to-advanced duets, trios, quartets, etc., or just get together and listen to some great string music! All ages a …
